2012 Nissan Leaf

I finally took delivery of the 2012 Nissan Leaf on 6/5/2012.  This brings me one step closer to total energy independence.  I will no longer be dependent on foreign oil and dirty energy sources to power my home or my commute.  I love being part of the clean energy revolution and knowing that I am doing my part to reduce my carbon footprint.  I will now be driving a solar powered 100% electric vehicle around town.  What's more: I will be driving around with a clean conscience.
It turns out that I should have installed more solar panels on my home because I am estimating that I will use between 150-200 Kwh more than I produce with my solar panels.
I do have one bit of fantastic news about my solar panels, though!  When I entered into an agreement with my electric company PNM back in October 2009, they agreed to pay me 0.13 cents per Kwh that I produced until 10/13/2021.  This is roughly $60 a month that PNM PAYS to ME until October 2012!  You gotta love it!   Well, get this - they are now only paying a REC credit of $0.04 cents per Kwh which is reduced by .5 cents every 6 months for a term of 7 years.  I hit this at the right time!!!!!!  By being an early adopter of solar energy I am gaining about $40-$50 dollars a month in income from PNM.  I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been almost 3 years after I started this blog I am thrilled that I started on this journey toward energy independece.  Life is Good!

Next project - let me know your ideas!
